ABOUT MY BUILDING PROCESS
Mostly all models you can browse in the guitar section are fully hand-crafted, from raw wood to finish.
For those of you who are not familiar with guitar building process, here are the main steps involved in guitar.
For the move from 100% manually crafted guitars to small series production, I decided to change my way of building guitars, to reach a perfect and reproducible precision in the assembly of the guitar, while keeping the value of hand-crafting.
The body and the neck shapes are now processed by CNC, as well as all
cavities, such as neck pocket, string-through holes, neck hole, or pickup
cavity. Both body and neck are CNC - processed by a supplier (I do not have a CNC machine in my workshop). Only the contour and thickness of the
body and neck are processed.
The body is manually carved, as this is a step that I really enjoy, and that I consider to be of higher added value than just detouring the body.
Indeed, this way, I can adapt to customers requests, while ensuring that the geometry from one guitar to the other one is exactly the same thanks to the CNC.
All models provide the same quality in terms of assembly, but will differ slightly each from one other, due to manual carving.
Each model is unique!
Regarding the neck, the truss-rod channel is not CNC, to allow the use of
different types of truss-rod models
(adjustment hidden in the heel, or accessible through the fretboard).
The fretboard is still manually made, as
I want to allow myself to get stunning fretboards from various
suppliers, and to propose different radius depending on customer requests.
I finish my models using French varnish for the body and the neck, The neck can also be finished using true-oil or similar. The benefit of French varnish is that is is really easy to repair in case of damage. Furthermore, the finish is really thin, and non toxic, On the other hand, care must be brought when using the guitars, but this is what should be done with every instrument. Depending on the wood species, I fill pores or leave them opened.
